Secrets

Let no one see your tears

But your pillows

Let no one hear your agony

But the wind

Let no one know that you are waiting

But time

Let no one know you love

Even your heart in itself

Red

Her eyes are red.

It had been months since I last saw her eyes that swollen. Had they been fighting, the whole time she was out of the house? I hope not.

Twelve years, give or take a few, they had been together for that long. In the blink of an eye, he’s out of sight. Where was he that night? Why didn’t he tell us where he went? Why didn’t he show up?

She tries to act normal, but I know something’s wrong. Of all the people in this world, I should be the first to talk to her. Why can’t I?

Her eyes are red, and I don’t know how to make them bright, again.
